The six-day celebration includes food and drink specials for the entire family, DJs, face painting, an interactive charity mixology class, up to $10,000 in prize giveaways, and a partnership with Phoenix Children’s Hospital
Metro Phoenix, AZ (RestaurantNews.com) Popular restaurant Barrio Queen – which has seven locations around the Valley – is kicking off the largest Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in the Valley. The six-day celebration will be held Friday, Oct. 28-Wed., Nov. 2, with all its locations participating. A variety of events and festivities will be offered, including live music, food and drink specials for the entire family, a special charity menu, face painting, a mixology class, and up to $10,000 in giveaways.
Passionate about authenticity, family, and keeping tradition, Barrio Queen follows the tradition of the holiday. Día de los Muertos is one of the most important holidays in Mexican culture, and during the festivities, families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief celebration. The event mainly originated in Mexico, though often celebrated by people of Mexican heritage everywhere. This year, Día de los Muertos is held Nov. 1-2.
“Family and tradition are important and honoring both during Día de los Muertos is a mission of our company,” Barrio Queen’s Chef Julio Mata says. “For guests who want to learn about our culture, this is the perfect way to experience it. Come join us for Mexican traditions here in the Valley. We have something for all ages, so it’s the perfect family time, too.”
Giving back is also important to Barrio Queen, and proceeds from select celebration events will benefit Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
